Volunteers play a vital role in helping Colorado Farm to Table distribute hundreds of thousands of pounds of fresh produce to feed those in need throughout Colorado each year. The day-to-day and year-to-year successes of Colorado Farm To Table would not be possible without the hundreds of volunteers and their generous donations of thousands of hours. Scores of volunteers participate in nearly all duties supporting the Farm throughout the year: Driving to Alamosa to pick up seed in spring, cleaning the Williams and Hamm ditch, laying and picking up irrigation, ditch burning, small construction projects, staffing the greenhouse, transplanting seedlings, planting seeds, hoeing weeds, photographing Farm activities, recruiting and coordinating volunteers, produce distribution coordination, picking, boxing and loading produce orders, collecting pallets and containers, beekeeping, managing our website and social media, serving on the board of directors, and grant writing.
Volunteers also run our Farmer’s Market Booth (information booth only, no produce is ever sold) for a four-hour shift on Saturday’s from 8 am to noon, June through October. Our Farmer’s Market Booth is a great way for us to connect to potential volunteers as well as spread awareness about our mission throughout. An individual, couple, or family who can commit ahead of time to one or more shifts on Saturdays is ideal.
